What a week. Last week was technically fall break, which I was obviously very excited about. Two whole days to catch up and try to get ahead on things! Sike! I ended up at mock trial practice literally ALL DAY Thursday, til about 9:30PM. Then went in to work all day Friday at the prosecutor’s…
I had a dream last night that I failed the bar exam. That test has been looming over me since I started law school in May 2025. Seeing the recent grads in the library studying 60 hours a week for ten weeks. Hearing a recent grad yell “what the F*CK!!!” when he thought no one…
1. I know it is again a Thursday and not my normal Wednesday post 2. I am busy sorry 3. It’s basically Wednesday 4. This is a heavy post 5. Trigger warning for death, sexual assault, rape, etc. Observing the justice system nationally in the past few weeks has been brutal. First, Nolan Wells was…
IT’S FAT BEAR WEEK Quite possibly my favorite week of the entire year. And, if you are unaware of what Fat Bear Week is, allow me to introduce you. Every spring over 2,000 brown bears emerge from hibernation from a long Alaskan winter in Katmai National Park. They’re thin, scrawny, a fraction of what they…
I made Ezra watch Frozen tonight. And, of course, he protested at first, “Frozen is dumb,” “it’s for kids,” “can we watch a different Disney movie?” but ten minutes in (before Elsa had even been coronated, mind you, he was all “this is such a good movie,” pausing his video game to watch. And it…
Okay first off – several of my friends have caught me at school and said they read my blog and omg??? I love y’all. Having me like ME?? You read what I have to say??? Anywho anyway. I honestly didn’t even know what to call today’s post. I didn’t have a theme, just ramblings in…
After receiving my financial aid package for the year in August I realized I had an urgent problem on my hand. I had based my budget off of last year’s financial aid (knowing that I was under the 50k cap and that the GradPLUS loans were being grandfathered out), but little did I know the…
1. Rest in peace Dolly Parton 2. I did not post last week, I took a break (I had nothing to write about honestly) 3. And 2L has begun! I am so thrilled to be back in the semester honestly. I know the entire point of my post two weeks ago was to say that…
Late post today. I finished my full time internship last week, then went out of town for a few days. So, needless to say, I have been lazy. On the last day of my internship, many people asked me what was next, as the other interns (3Ls) are staying on throughout the fall semester. I…
Okay. Funny title. Heavy topic. And not necessarily law related. But it’s been eating (no pun intended) at me. And before anyone says anything. My qualifications on the topic are: in 2017 I almost died due to complications regarding anorexia nervosa. I was hospitalized, ripped out of everything (swim, school, social activities, everything), and began…
On my last post I mentioned my “why” for law school. I even mentioned I physically carry it with me everywhere. So, here it is. Early afternoon on May 24, 2024, tears were streaming down my face as I held my 4 year old dog in my arms for the last time. Every possible emotion…
It is July 22. One full month until classes start up again. Honestly, this summer absolutely flew by. Between the world cup (with my city being one of the host cities, there was ALWAYS something going on), internships, moving, putting my dogs into training together, getting sick like three times, being concussed, the weekly cycle…
It’s mid July. Seventy-five percent of the way through my summer internship. And I’m writing this while sitting in a meeting where the partners and paralegals are talking and us clerks are understanding each word individually…..but like not in the aggregate. They’re speaking sentences, in English, and I know what each word means, but as…
HOW did I already manage to mess up my posting schedule??? Every Wednesday. That’s my goal. Yet I missed last week. Okay, so that is definitely hypothetical. Fun fact, I missed last week because I got a concussion while moving into a new apartment. Except the concussion wasn’t even moving related, it was when I…
Just kidding. Kind of. I’m at a plaintiff’s litigation firm. However, in this case, we were defense. The client was a past client of ours, and the claim brought against him was frivolous. Absolutely had no grounds to it. Anyway, we were set for a bench trial. I had been working with a partner and…
You know that SpongeBob meme where he’s all shiny and rounded and looks so uncomfy and polished? Yeah, that one. That’s how it feels being a summer clerk/associate/intern after 1L. Like my first day I walked in, three days after my last final, and was given a list of things to do, including some research…
Okay. Real talk. The 1L curve SUCKS. And I have never felt more dumb in my entire life. Everyone says it. But it’s true. It is so insanely difficult to go from doing so well, staying ahead of the curve, then boom, one grade ruins everything. And for me, that grade was Con Law. Unfortunately,…
