HOW did I already manage to mess up my posting schedule??? Every Wednesday. That’s my goal. Yet I missed last week.

Okay, so that is definitely hypothetical. Fun fact, I missed last week because I got a concussion while moving into a new apartment. Except the concussion wasn’t even moving related, it was when I was putting groceries away. I hit my head on the underside of the freezer door. Not even a funny story, just a week off work, a missed post, and somehow both more time than I know what to do with and simultaneously not enough time.

By the end of the week I was restless. I had been stuck in my new apartment all week. I couldn’t drive anywhere, and was just stuck in the loop of unpacking boxes only to turn around and have more boxes behind the now empty ones. I couldn’t read, I couldn’t work remotely, I couldn’t focus on anything that required mental stimulation. I was basically a robot counting down the hours til Love Island every night. But now I am back at work, and reminiscing on having that whole week to myself. Because now, I am back to working both internships, still unpacking and decorating, prioritizing what needs to be bought for the apartment, and now applying for summer 2027 internships.

Yep. 2027. Already. On campus interview applications are open. I debated even trying, OCI was NOT a fun experience in the spring. But I know I would be doing myself a disservice to not apply. So now I get to work all day, go home, clean and unpack, workout, and watch Love Island WHILE writing cover letters and editing my writing samples. But honestly the cover letters might actually be more entertaining than watching Kenzie and Dylan have the same fight a hundred times, or watching Kayda and Melanie fall for their boys’ BS regardless of the fact that all the viewers and producers and other islanders have tried time and time again to warn them off (it gets to a point, I can’t keep rooting for them if they’re willfully blind!).

Sigh.

Anyway. I don’t know how we’re already almost ⅓ of the way through July. I counted earlier and I only have like 22ish working days left of my internship. Apparently this is the last week of Love Island USA which means summer is basically over (seriously, what will occupy my evenings now??). Wild. Time is going both so fast and so slow at the same time (I mean come on, the afternoon slump everyday from 2-3:30??? awful). Plus, it feels like law firms are always living months if not years in the future, with deadlines being all over the place. If there is one thing I have learned this summer, it is to try and live better in the moment. So, as summer winds down, that is what I will be more intentional about doing.
